Fix the “This Block Has Encountered an Error” Message
If you’re seeing the message:
“This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed.”
This can occasionally happen with older blocks used in earlier versions of Kadence themes. In most cases, the block can be restored in just a few steps.
Step 1: Save & Refresh
Click Update to save your page, then refresh the editor.
Sometimes simply reloading the page is enough to restore the block.
Step 2: Recover the Block
If the error is still displayed, click Attempt Block Recovery.
WordPress will try to repair the block while preserving your content.
Step 3: Replace the Block
If the block still isn’t working:
- Delete the affected block.
- Open the Design Library.
- Insert a fresh copy of the section.
- Customize it again if needed.
Helpful Tip: This issue is most common with older websites that have been updated through multiple versions of WordPress and Kadence Blocks. Replacing the block with a fresh copy usually resolves the issue permanently.
